Time in the Liturgy
‘It is time for the Lord to act.’ – An opening line of the deacon in the Divine Liturgy (see https://ChThHall.fyi/theology/divine-liturgy)
‘Today is…’ The Liturgy does not recall past events. By ritual we participate in the events; the are made present to us “re-presented”. That is why so many of the hymns start with “Today is…” for example, “Today is suspended upon the Tree” or “Today Christ is risen from the dead.”
