All of this is a bit more ideal than realized.
Two axes: domain (what it’s about) and type (what kind of note it is).
Domain tags
Free form but some I expect to use:
#theology— Eastern Christian tradition, patristics, liturgics#philosophy— general philosophical threads not specific to language#music— ambient, neoclassical, post-rock, composition, listening notes#computing-history— history of computing, protocols, early networks#tech— current tech, DNS/ICANN, infrastructure#writing— craft notes, books, selfpublishing/KDP pipeline#meta— meta notes about the system itself
Type tags
The below are not exhaustive
#concept— self-explanatory#person— self-explanatory#project— active work with a deliverable#question— an open question, not yet a concept note#source— a book, article, or work I’m processing
Status tags (zettelkasten maturity)
status/initial— just planted, one or two linesstatus/draft— has structure, still incompletestatus/stable— mature, well-linked, still revisable
Default new notes to status/initial.
Promote the tag as a note matures —
that gives a cheap way to query “what needs work” (zk list -t status/initial).
