The fig tree

Just as the fig tree in the Gospel had showy leaves but not fruit, the Jews of the time had external apperance but neglected the weighter matters of the law. Likewise in our day fundamentalism can confuse rigor and appearance for fruit. Leaves through photosynthesis are for the purpose of bearing fruit. This is the generation and propigation of the fig tree.
